Hailing from metro-Detroit, LA, and Brazil by way of Sydney, Nico Brunstein (bass), Sam Slocum (vocals), Skyler Knapp (guitar), Laila Wayans (drums), and Nando Dale (guitar) have positioned themselves at the glimmering rotten center of today’s rock and roll. Each member so distinctly themselves, it must be assumed that such a diverse and unlikely gang were drawn tight together in their first year of university by nothing short of serendipitous fortune and a shared, waggish sense of humor.

Praised by NME as “one of NYC’s brightest, new, guitar hopes”, Been Stellar’s “melodic shoegaze and towering dream-pop” continues to grow through their next record, the first to be released through Dirty Hit, this spring.

Been Stellar’s signing to Dirty Hit and forthcoming album, Scream From New York, NY, will be publicly announced upon release of first single, “Passing Judgment” in February. Two more singles will follow in the two months after, leading up to album release at the end of May!

While the band has already shot an official music video for “Passing Judgment”, they’re deep into rounding out the creative for two more official videos and a visualizer. The world of Scream From New York, NY will be beautifully cohesive and grungy, nostalgic yet modern – the true brainchild of a band with such a vision, alongside eclectically artful collaborators who help bring that vision to life.

Been Stellar has toured with Beabadoobee, Fontaines D.C., Interpol, Shame, and more, including performances at SXSW and The Great Escape. Looking ahead, the band will be supporting Interpol in NY on Dec 13, followed by a handful of festivals next year: Shaky Knees, Tramlines Festival, and Truck Fest.

The band has already graced covers of Spotify’s Fresh Finds, melomaniac, and Hot New Bands. They have been featured in New Music Friday, Today’s Indie Rock, The Indie List, All New Rock, pulp, undercurrents, Nosiy, and more. Apple Music playlisting includes New Music Daily, New In Indie, New In Rock, New In Alternative, Today’s Indie Rock, Untitled, and more.

Past press features include The FADER, NME, The Times, So Young Magazine, and DIY. The band has received love from radio on BBC6Music Playlist + Radio1 Next Wave, as well as written two original songs for Apple TV+ series City on Fire.
