Bulgarian Cartrader est le projet musical inclassable de Daniel Stoyanov — un artiste à la voix aussi singulière que son parcours, né à Sofia, élevé en Allemagne et aujourd’hui basé à Berlin. Issu de débuts modestes en jouant dans des mariages, Stoyanov s’est peu à peu fait un nom dans l’industrie musicale en tant que chanteur de studio très demandé. Son talent l’a mené jusqu’au sommet : co-auteur et choriste du groupe allemand SEEED, habitué des stades, il a également collaboré avec des artistes comme Solomun, Casper, Marteria et bien d’autres.
L’idée de Bulgarian Cartrader est née de manière inattendue — alors qu’il livrait une voiture pour un ami. Le nom est resté, et le projet est devenu le vecteur de la vision musicale unique de Stoyanov. Après avoir quitté son groupe Malky, signé en major, il s’est enfermé en studio, passant d’innombrables jours et nuits en solitaire à écrire, interpréter et produire ce qui deviendra son premier album, Motor Songs, sorti en 2022.
Ce disque a marqué une année décisive : Bulgarian Cartrader s’est rapidement imposé comme l’un des nouveaux venus les plus prometteurs de la scène indie européenne. Des festivals aux concerts à guichets fermés, de Sofia à Berlin, de Paris à New York et Los Angeles, il a conquis le public avec son charisme décalé et son univers sonore irrésistible. Il a reçu le Music Moves Europe (MME) Award et a été soutenu par des figures influentes comme Matt Wilkinson, Kevin Cole (KEXP) et Chris Douridas (KCRW). Les éloges se sont multipliés : Musikexpress (★★★★★), Libération (« …la croisée de Thundercat et de l’Eurovision, pleine d’une sensualité next door »), Indie Shuffle (« pure poésie, du concept à la réalisation »). Ses morceaux ont accumulé plus de 15 millions d’écoutes et de nombreuses synchronisations prestigieuses.
Après une année discrète de remise en question, Bulgarian Cartrader est de retour — indépendant et rechargé. Son nouveau single, sorti le 16 mai via son propre label fraîchement lancé, Uncomfortable Chair Records, marque le début d’un nouveau chapitre audacieux pour l’une des voix les plus intrigantes de la scène indie.

Bulgarian Cartrader is the genre-blurring music project of Daniel Stoyanov — a Sofia-born, Germany-raised and now Berlin based artist with a voice as distinctive as his backstory. From humble beginnings playing wedding gigs, Stoyanov carved out a name for himself in the music industry as a sought-after studio vocalist. His talents took him all the way to the big leagues — co-writing and performing as a background singer for stadium-filling German band SEEED, and collaborating with the likes of Solomun, Casper, Marteria and more.
The idea for Bulgarian Cartrader came in an unexpected moment of inspiration — while delivering a car for a friend. The name stuck, and the project became a vessel for Stoyanov’s unique musical vision.
