English

DJ, label manager and club impresario Madam X has proven to be one of the UK’s leading underground DJs.

Madam X is a multi genre DJ, whose extensive knowledge of music presents itself monthly on NTS and Athens’ Movement Radio. Her reputation as a curator and DJ has seen her tour across America, Australia, Asia and beyond, representing the darker sounds of UK bass-driven techno.

Often heralded as a ‘genre-bending, champion of the underground’, on a mission to blur the lines between the restricted boundaries of genres and labels, her recent mix on HÖR BERLIN proved just that, garnering ‘Mix Of The Day’ support from Resident Advisor, celebrated for it’s “jam-packed hour of pretty much everything”.

From co-founding label and Manchester Club night BPM in 2011, to launching her own label KAIZEN in the summer of 2014, KAIZEN has gone from strength to strength to support up and coming producers pushing the boundaries of electronic music.

With releases from Biome, Walton and Silas & Snare, and support from Mall Grab, Loefah, Hodge, Mary Ann Hobbs and Annie Mac to name a few, KAIZEN has proven to be one of the most talked-about labels in left-field bass music. A strong believer in vinyl and the art of pressing music to wax, KAIZEN has formed a strong identity and brand. Publications such as Mixmag, Resident Advisor and Crack Magazine regularly cover the story.

With a cult following, often described as a “headsy” label geared for the crate diggers and record collectors, as a clubnight and imprint, KAIZEN has armed her with the hands-on experience of releasing records independently whilst also keeping her ear firmly to the ground.

With the soundsystem pressure of dubstep, the propulsion of techno and a fearless attitude, Madam X’s accomplishments admittedly feel like only the tip of the iceberg. Presenting Channel 4’s award-winning music show ‘Four to the Floor’, Radio, NTS and Movement radio residencies under her belt, she continues to build on past successes, clearly set on leaving her mark on UK dance music.
