Johnny Jewel
Johnny Jewel est un compositeur, producteur, parolier et artiste visuel américain éclectique. C’est un multi-instrumentiste connu pour combiner les sons des synthétiseurs analogiques avec des instruments électroacoustiques afin de créer des paysages texturaux ultra-vivants. Depuis le milieu des années 1990, il publie des disques révolutionnaires qui transforment les genres. Au cours des vingt dernières années, Jewel a possédé et géré son propre label, l’influent Italians Do It Better Records. Jewel produit et sort des dizaines d’artistes du monde entier et est la force créatrice de ses groupes synth pop Desire, Chromatics et Glass Candy.
Il a été recruté par The Weeknd pour remixer sa chanson numéro un « Blinding Lights », et a collaboré avec les élites de la dance music Diplo, Guy Gerber, Maceo Plex, Omar S et The Hacker. Ses compositions originales ont été samplées par Kid Cudi, 21 Savage, Jarvis Cocker, P Diddy, Nas et bien d’autres. En tant que compositeur de films, Jewel est connu pour son travail avec le réalisateur danois Nicolas Winding Refn sur les films Bronson (2008) et Drive (2011) avec Ryan Gosling. Deux ans plus tard, ce dernier a choisi Jewel pour composer la musique de son premier film, Lost River. Il a reçu le prix Georges Delerue de la meilleure musique originale pour son travail avant-gardiste avec la réalisatrice belge Fien Troch sur son film Home. En 2017, il est apparu à l’écran dans l’emblématique Twin Peaks de David Lynch, pour lequel il a également contribué à la partition musicale aux côtés du légendaire Angelo Badelementi. La musique de Jewel a servi de bande-son à de nombreux défilés.

Johnny Jewel is an eclectic American composer, producer, lyricist, & visual artist. He is a multi-instrumentalist known for combining the sounds of analog synthesizers with electro acoustic instruments to create ultra-vivid textural landscapes. He has been releasing ground breaking & genre bending records since the mid-1990s. For the last twenty years, Jewel has owned & operated his own label; the influential Italians Do It Better Records. Producing & releasing dozens of artists from all over the globe, Jewel is the driving creative force behind his Synth Pop groups Desire, Chromatics, & Glass Candy. He was recruited by The Weeknd to remix his number one song « Blinding Lights », & has collaborated with dance music elites Diplo, Guy Gerber, Maceo Plex, Omar S & The Hacker. His original compostions have been sampled by Kid Cudi, 21 Savage, Jarvis Cocker, P Diddy, Nas & more. As a film composer, Jewel is known for his work with Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn on the films Bronson (2008) & Drive (2011) starring Ryan Gosling. Two years later, Gosling hand picked Jewel to score his directorial debut, Lost River. He received the Georges Delerue Award for best original score for his avante garde work with Belgian director Fien Troch on her film Home.
