Le chanteur, auteur-compositeur, artiste et producteur grentperez, originaire de Sydney, ouvre cet endroit – que ce soit en studio, sur scène ou sous l’œil attentif de la caméra de l’ordinateur dans sa chambre d’enfant, où il a enregistré la plupart de sa musique à ce jour. Sa pop artisanale apaise instantanément sur une série d’albums qui ont contribué à faire connaître grentperez à un public de plus en plus large, aussi bien en Australie qu’en Amérique du Nord, en Asie du Sud-Est et en Europe.
Petit dernier d’une famille philippine de trois enfants, grentperez s’est immergé dans la musique pendant son enfance. Il écoutait les Eagles, les Beatles et Queen avec son père avant de passer à des artistes comme Musiq Soulchild. En 2013, à seulement 12 ans, il a posté sa première vidéo sur sa chaîne YouTube.
Générant plus de 40 millions de vues de vidéos YouTube au cours de l’année dernière, la célébrité YouTube nouvellement trouvée a incité grentperez à expérimenter la publication de certaines de ses propres musiques écrites et enregistrées sur des plateformes de streaming. Son premier single « Cherry Wine ! », sorti en septembre 2021, s’est hissé au sommet des classements viraux de Spotify dans le monde entier, atteignant notamment la première place en Australie, au Canada et à Singapour. Plusieurs singles ont suivi jusqu’à la sortie de son premier EP « Conversations with The Moon# ! » en février 2022, qui a vu sa musique se développer à un rythme accéléré pour atteindre plus de 50 millions de streams, avec des centaines de nouveaux fans qui le découvrent chaque jour.
En dehors des plateformes de streaming, il a reçu un soutien notable de la part de personnalités telles que Triple J, KCRW, MTV, NPR, DIY, Wonderland, Notion, SEA Today et The Line of Best Fit.
Ayant écrit ses propres chansons et poèmes pendant son adolescence, grentperez admet : » Les jours où je ne me sens pas bien, je prends une guitare, et ça me fait du bien. Je crois fermement en tout ce que je chante. Quoi qu’il en soit, j’essaie de me mettre dans une position qui me permette de m’identifier et de m’immerger complètement dans tous les mots. »

Growing up as the youngest of three kids in a Filipino family, grentperez immersed himself in music during his childhood.
