Formé en 2019 par Anna Friedberg, autrichienne d’origine (autrice-compositrice, chant, guitare, cloches et percussions), le groupe est complété par Emily Linden, basée entre Londres et Berlin (guitare, chant), Cheryl Pinero (basse, chant) et Fifi Dewey (batterie). Friedberg se fait rapidement remarquer avec le single « Go Wild », un véritable carton que l’on retrouve à la fois sur la bande-son de FIFA 2020 et dans la série de la BBC Normal People. Le groupe enchaîne avec un premier EP très remarqué, « Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah », une collection de morceaux percutants et taillés au cordeau pour la scène.
Le groupe s’est depuis imposé sur la scène européenne avec des prestations marquantes à Eurosonic (Pays-Bas), Open Air St. Gallen (Suisse), Popfest (Autriche, en tête d’affiche) et Haldern Pop (Allemagne). Il a également tourné aux États-Unis avec Hot Chip, assuré la première partie de leurs trois concerts à la Brixton Academy de Londres, accompagné Placebo, et joué en support sur de grandes dates en stade avec AnnenMayKantereit en Allemagne l’été dernier.

Friedberg is an all-female-four-piece, formed by Austrian singer, guitarist and master of cowbells Anna Friedberg. Their music has often been described as a blend of post punk and alt-rock doused in alluring pop sensibilities – something that is immediately familiar, but also like nothing you’ve ever heard before.
Formed in 2019, the line up is completed by London/Berlin-based Emily Linden (guitar, vocals), Cheryl Pinero (bass, vocals) and Fifi Dewey (drums).
Friedberg’s early success came from single ‘Go Wild’ – a runaway hit that featured on the FIFA 2020 soundtrack, and in BBC’s Normal People – and their stellar debut EP ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah’, a razor-sharp collection of belters designed for the live stage.
The band has made major waves in Europe with performances at Eurosonic,, Open Air St. Gallen, Popfest Vienna and Haldern Pop festivals plus a U.S tour and Brixton Academy supports with Hot Chip and some recent dates with Placebo, Giant Rooks ad Big Special.
Current single ‘The Greatest’ cements itself as Friedberg’s most triumphant release yet. Anna Friedberg’s transfixing vocals are as breezy as ever, while the drum and bass grooves keep everything flowing. It’s a song destined for the festival season – for cool-breeze drives, warm summer parties and those endless road trips you never want to end.
