South London rapper and producer ayrtn has released his new EP ‘TOOAWESOME’ and unveiled visuals for his latest single ‘2 Da Max’.

‘TOOAWESOME’ is ayrtn’s first body of work since the ‘Ghost…’ mixtape which was released in 2020. Comprised of 6 tracks completely written, produced and arranged by ayrtn himself, ‘TOOAWESOME’ was designed to soundtrack the looming end of summer. A snapshot into the 22 year old’s psyche, the project juxtaposes streams of consciousness that are equally introspective, self-deprecating, humorous and braggadocious over off-kilter production that traverse the past and present while predicting the future.

Speaking on what the new EP represents, ayrtn says:

“This EP has been in the works for a very long year and a half. I’m so happy to be able to give it to my amazing supporters who have been nothing but patient with me whilst I’ve been working on the intricacies. The project represents the evolution of my music, incorporating elements symbolic of my early work and merging them with layered sonics representative of where I see my music going in the future.”

To mark the occasion, ayrtn has released a video for his latest single ‘2 Da Max’. A jovial track with stuttering drum patterns characteristic of Timbaland and Missy Elliott’s mid-90s production and synth pads borrowing from ambient electronica. The accompanying video was directed by Tyrus Hill (Denzel Himself, Rudimental, Peter Xan) and visually is a significant and marked leap from ayrtn’s previous videos. ‘2 Da Max’ is more of a cinematic affair that sees ayrtn tapping into his acting sensibilities as he takes on the role of multiple characters that come together to create a world within a world.

Speaking on the visual, ayrtn said:

“The lyrics are crazy vivid and describe many different scenarios and metaphors, so I felt it was only right to create a video that gives you sensory overload. I think this may be my favourite visual to date.”

The new EP comes on the heels of previously released singles ‘CAUTION’ and ‘The GLO’ which have re-established ayrtn’s singular position in the UK Rap landscape. Garnering praise and acclaim from the likes of Complex UK, GUAP, Loud & Quiet, CLASH, The Line Of Best Fit, TRENCH, District Magazine, DUMMY, GRM Daily and Acclaim Mag. Additionally scoring playlisting on Capital XTRA,  Sian Anderson’s KISS FM show and leading to an ‘Artist Of The Week’ spotlight on Rebecca Judd’s Apple Music show.

A beacon in the world of Alternative UK Hip-Hop, ayrtn made his formal debut onto the scene with his debut EP ‘FLIGHT07’ in 2018, spawning the standout tracks ‘EDGAR DAVIDS’ and ‘COSY’. In the years since its release, the South London native has very been prolific, quietly building a dedicated following with various EP’s and mixtapes such as ‘CRACK’, ‘SAURA PALACE’, ‘Ghost….’ in addition to curating bespoke a beat-tape ‘BEETS SERIES DOS’ .

ayrtn’s ascent and rise up until this point has been the result of a very DIY and grassroots approach. Despite being somewhat of an enigma, he’s managed to amass 500k monthly streams on Spotify and Apple Music, meanwhile the likes of ‘south’, ‘Alone’, ‘COSY’ and ‘EDGAR DAVIDS’ have all achieved an excess of 4 million streams. The late Virgil Abloh was also a fan, playing ‘Garms’ on his ‘Imaginary Radio’ show.

ayrtn is also fashioning a smooth transition into the world of fashion. For the launch of the CONVERSE X A-COLD-WALL*’S SPONGE CX CRATER with END CLOTHING, ayrtn was selected as a  talent to showcase the shoe. Meanwhile for Dr Martens, ayrtn has been chosen to showcase their new line of shoes dropping this summer.

To further support the ‘TOOAWESOME’ EP, ayrtn will be heading out on a UK & Ireland tour across October and November including a headline London show at Lafayette.
