Angélica Garcia
Avec des racines à El Monte, en Californie, et à Richmond, en Virginie, la musique d’Angelica Garcia est le résultat d’une fusion d’une expérience bicôtière du Sud. Au fur et à mesure que Garcia déménageait, ses chansons emboîtaient le pas, passant parfois de la noise pop aux polyrythmies texturées de l’Amérique latine et à une production vocale inspirée de l’electronica ambiante. Elle a déjà figuré sur les listes de fin d’année de NPR’s Tiny Desk, du NY Times et sur la liste annuelle des meilleures musiques de Barack Obama pour sa chanson « Jícama ».
Son EP le plus récent, ‘Echo Eléctrico’ datant de 2021, est un témoignage de son héritage salvadorien-mexicain-américain et une expression de son étude vocale des styles rock alternatif, pop et Ranchera. Album entièrement a cappella, Echo Eléctrico met particulièrement en valeur l’univers soigneusement construit de la production vocale d’Angélica.
Après avoir travaillé en étroite collaboration avec Carlos Arévalo (Chicano Batman) sur son prochain album, qui sortira sur Partisan Records, elle expérimente avec enthousiasme ses nombreuses identités. L’avenir de sa narration réside dans l’exploitation du pouvoir de la tradition et son alchimie dans le présent, en chantant sur l’intersection de l’esprit et du corps.

With roots in El Monte, California, and Richmond, Virginia, Angelica Garcia’s sound formed as an amalgamation of a bicoastal Southern experience. As Garcia moved locations, her songs followed suit, sometimes switching from noise pop to the textured polyrhythms of Latin America and vocal production inspired by ambient electronica. She has previously been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk, NY Times year-end lists, and on Barack Obama’s annual best-of music list for her song « Jícama ».
Her most recent EP, 2021’s Echo Eléctrico, is a testament to her Salvadoran-Mexican-American heritage and an expression of her vocal study of Alternative Rock, Pop, & Ranchera styles. A completely a cappella album, Echo Eléctrico especially showcases the carefully constructed world of Angélica’s vocal production style.
The upcoming iteration of Garcia’s work brings her to Brooklyn, NY. After working closely with Carlos Arévalo (Chicano Batman) on her forthcoming album, to be released on Partisan Records, she eagerly experiments with closing the divide between her many identities. She released recent single « Y Grito » in conjunction with a feature in Apple’s annual keynote, followed by a feature in Apple TV’s launch of their Major League Soccer partnership. The future of her storytelling lies in harnessing the power of tradition and alchemizing it into the present, singing about the intersection of spirit and body.
