Grove
Mélangeant des éléments de dancehall, de jungle, de basse et de pop infusés de punk, l’artiste Grove est en constante évolution. Les concoctions sonores de Grove proviennent des énergies féminines et masculines qui résident en lui, les filtrant à travers une lentille sensuelle et rave-centric, avec des paroles inspirées par l’angoisse politique et l’euphorie queer. En tant que nouvelle voix pointue pour 2021, Grove a sorti son premier EP « Queer + Black » en février dernier. Ce projet est une exploration de l’identité, à la fois personnelle et politique.

Meddling together elements of punk-infused dancehall, jungle, bass and pop, Grove is a Bristol-based producer and vocalist whose sound is undefined and constantly morphing. Grove’s noise concoctions come from the ‘feminine’ and ‘masculine’ energies that reside within, filtering them through a sensuous & rave-a-licious sound. Lyrical subject matters range from the euphoria of queer rave spaces, to the toppling of the Edward Colston statue.
As sharp new voice for 2021, Grove released their debut EP ‘Queer + Black’ in February. ‘Queer + Black’ is an exploration of identity, both personal and political, and a deft combination of sharp hooks and splintering beats beamed in from a club in 3021 AD. This was compounded at the end of 2021 with a collaboration track ‘BBB’ with quickly ascending queer icon Lynks, and another EP ‘SPICE’ with production from members of Giant Swan and YOKEL, connecting the dots between queerness and dancehall music.
‘Queer + Black’ & ‘SPICE’ achieved plaudits including from Resident Advisor, CRACK, Them, The Times, Bandcamp Daily, and ‘Q+B’ was named one of Mixmag’s ‘Best EPs of the Year’. Singles have been championed by Jack Saunders (R1), Jamz Supernova (Radio 1Xtra & 6), KEXP, NTS, & BBC 6 Music (Mary Anne Hobbs/Steve Lamacq)’.
